Dear Son,
Believe it or not you have actually had a day or two during which you didn’t like me.
Love Dad
Dear Son,
I hope from time to time you turn your mind, attention and in particular your imagination, to understanding “God”.
There is one aspect in particular I would like you to consider. I think God is normally described, understood, thought of as some kind of super-superman. Or perhaps a cosmic Santa Claus, answering the prayers of those on the “nice” list.
I’d like, and challenge you, to consider the possibility that God may be extraordinarily vulnerable. By this I of course don’t mean vulnerable to physical harm. Something else. Something more, perhaps, is at stake.
Can you conceive of God this way? What do you make of this vulnerable God?
Love Dad.
