Can the psyche be healed of / from Hamlet’s slings and arrows of outrageous fortune?
There was a time when I thought “yes”. I would still say “yes”, but a very qualified one.
The Christian view of humanity, which I subscribe to, is that we are all wounded, broken, flawed. Time does not heal all of this.
I think what we can do is welcome the pain when it comes. We can observe it in meditation. Its effects lessen. Its grip weakens.
We can accept that sometimes things hurt without reason, patterns repeat without warning, that we make mistakes and hurt others and ourselves. And then be grateful for forgiveness.
