The lease was coming close to expiring on my 2010 car, and I recently went to lease a new one.
The car buying process is bizarre. The salesperson / dealership isn’t there to add value to the car buying process. Rather, they are there to extract as much money from the buyer within the guidelines of the list price. The “business office” has broken through the list price rule with certain add-on products including rustproofing and extended warranties. Although a very expensive purchase, there really isn’t much time or information with which to evaluate these add-ons.
I’m surprised this business model still exists. Next time I’ll be sure to either use a professional car-buying agent or use the services of a buying group like the Automotive Protection Association.
